ACL corruption via truncated ACE acceptance
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper ACL validation in Linux 5.15 ksmbd allows remote authenticated users to apply incomplete access controls via malformed SMB security descriptors. parse_dacl() accepts truncated ACEs and allocation failures without returning an error, so set_info_sec() proceeds with a partially converted DACL. An authenticated SMB user able to set security information can cause inode attributes or ACL extended attributes to be updated from that incomplete conversion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
