Kernel log flooding via unmapped DACL SIDs
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Linux ksmbd allows remote authenticated users to flood the kernel log through SMB DACL requests. The DACL SID-mapping error path emits a kernel error for every structurally valid SID that cannot be mapped, without rate limiting. An authenticated SMB session and a share operation carrying a DACL are required; one request can generate hundreds of messages and consume logging resources.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
