CVE-2026-98088Hinoki check available

Out-of-bounds read via invalid NUMA node index

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the mpt3sas driver in Linux 5.3 and affected commits allows attackers to trigger an invalid read via unspecified vectors. The _base_assign_reply_queues() function passes NUMA_NO_NODE (-1) from dev_to_node() into cpumask_of_node(), which indexes node_to_cpumask_map before the array. Exposure requires an mpt3sas PCI device without NUMA affinity and high-I/O queue assignment; the public record reports a UBSAN-detected kernel read but no data disclosure or service interruption.
