Kernel use-after-free via premature transaction release
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 6.7 and affected commits allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through a failing btrfs RAID-stripe insertion. The btrfs_insert_one_raid_extent function aborts and ends a transaction on allocation failure even though btrfs_finish_one_ordered still owns the handle and later aborts and ends it again. Triggering the flaw requires the RAID stripe tree path to hit an allocation failure; public sources do not establish exploitability beyond invalid kernel-memory access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
