CVE-2026-98074Hinoki check available

Persistent promiscuous mode via premature active-slave clearing

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Improper bond teardown in Linux allows local users to leave a physical interface permanently in promiscuous mode. During release of all slaves, __bond_release_one() clears curr_active_slave while processing a backup, so the later active-slave release skips bond_change_active_slave() and never decrements the promiscuity counter. Reaching the flaw requires administrative control of a balance-alb bond with a backup released before its active slave; the residual state can expose unrelated network traffic to packet capture.
