CVE-2026-98072

Service hang via lost RDS wake-up

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Race condition in Linux kernel RDS networking allows attackers to hang connection teardown through a lost wake-up. The release_in_xmit() path clears RDS_IN_XMIT without a full barrier, allowing its wait-queue check to miss a waiter that still observes the bit as set. Triggering requires RDS connection teardown to race with transmission release, after which the single-threaded shutdown worker can remain blocked indefinitely.
