RDS connection denial of service via teardown race
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Race condition in the Linux kernel RDS subsystem allows context-dependent attackers to wedge an RDS/TCP path and peer send path. rds_conn_shutdown() can consume RDS_CONN_ERROR from a concurrent drop after rds_tcp_accept_one() attaches a new socket, causing the queued cleanup pass to see RDS_CONN_DOWN and do nothing. Exploitation requires a precisely timed FIN or administrative reset during connection acceptance; the orphaned socket remains established with callbacks armed and an unread receive queue until another drop occurs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
