Kernel panic via misclassified signal tracepoint pointer
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 6.12.6 through 6.13 allows local users to panic the kernel through a crafted tp_btf BPF program. btf_ctx_access() treats the signal_generate and signal_deliver info argument as a trusted pointer even when signal delivery supplies the non-pointer sentinels SEND_SIG_NOINFO or SEND_SIG_PRIV. Exploitation requires permission to load BPF programs, and dereferencing a sentinel during timer-interrupt signal generation can panic the host.
