Premature buffer free via stale descriptor state
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Use-after-free in affected Linux kernels beginning with 6.6 allows attackers to trigger premature buffer freeing during transmission. bcmasp_xmit leaves the last flag unchanged on reused non-final descriptors, causing bcmasp_tx_reclaim to consume an sk_buff while later fragments remain in flight. The condition requires the Broadcom ASP2 Ethernet driver, fragmented transmission, stale descriptor state, and an undercounted full ring; the public record does not establish a remote trigger.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
