Kernel panic via concurrent GRO list mutation
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Race condition in Linux 6.14 and affected git revisions allows local users to trigger a kernel panic through Spectrum-1 PTP traffic. The garbage collector calls napi_gro_receive() outside its NAPI poll context, allowing its workqueue and a poll on another CPU to mutate the same GRO list concurrently. Reaching the race requires Spectrum-1 hardware, an unmatched PTP entry from a transmit-timestamp timeout, and concurrent polling; list corruption then crashes and panics the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
