Local kernel crash via undersized ntuple buffer
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux 6.8 allows local users to crash the kernel through an undersized NFP ntuple rule-location request. nfp_net_get_fs_loc writes every flow-steering entry into rule_locs without honoring the caller-supplied rule_cnt allocation limit; a zero count leaves a null destination. An administrator must first install NFP flow-steering rules, after which an unprivileged local user can corrupt kernel memory or trigger a null-pointer crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
