Persistent flow-rule enumeration failure via stale bookkeeping
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 6.8 allows context-dependent attackers to make nfp flow-rule enumeration permanently fail after reprogramming fails. On an nfp rule replacement, nfp_net_fs_add() removes the hardware entry and decrements nn->fs.count, but a failed nfp_net_fs_add_hw() leaves the old rule on nn->fs.list, so the count and list diverge. Reachability requires an nfp network device, an existing flow rule, and a replacement that fails; later ETHTOOL_GRXCLSRLALL requests return -EMSGSIZE rather than overrunning the bounded buffer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
