Kernel memory corruption via unlocked I3C probe
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel 6.7 MCTP I3C driver allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via a probe and bus-removal race. mctp_i3c_probe releases busdevs_lock after finding a bus, so concurrent I3C_NOTIFY_BUS_REMOVE can free mbus before mctp_i3c_add_device inserts through it. Reachability requires the MCTP-over-I3C driver and a concurrent bus-removal notification while a device probe is in progress.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
