Local packet-scheduling hang via unclamped ETS quantum
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 5.6 allows local users with CAP_NET_ADMIN to hang packet scheduling through a crafted ETS qdisc. ets_qdisc_change() accepts an undersized quantum or zero fallback, letting a crafted size table drive a deficit-refill loop indefinitely under the qdisc lock. A user namespace can supply the required capability; the resulting spin interrupts packet scheduling rather than crashing or rebooting the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
