Incorrect page-cache sharing via ambiguous inode keys
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Cache-key collision in Linux 7.0 allows attackers to alias EROFS page-cache entries through crafted inode fingerprint metadata. erofs_xattr_fill_inode_fingerprint concatenates an opaque fingerprint and domain ID without a separator, allowing different component pairs to form the same inode_share key. Exploitation requires inode page sharing and colliding image metadata and domain values; the resulting alias can associate a page-cache entry with the wrong inode.
