CVE-2026-97995Hinoki check available

Kernel out-of-bounds read via mismatched virtqueue cookie

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux virtio_console allows local users to access memory past a ports_device during device unbind. The remove_vqs() path passes a pending control-out cookie for &portdev->cpkt to free_buf(), which miscasts it as struct port_buffer and reads sgpages. Reachability requires a multiport virtio-console control message to remain on c_ovq while the device is unbound; the public record documents a KASAN slab-out-of-bounds report but no data disclosure or code execution.
