Use-after-free via unsynchronized virtio input teardown
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel 4.1 and later affected builds allows attackers to access freed input-device memory during teardown. virtinput_remove() unregisters and can free vi->idev before reset stops virtinput_recv_events(), while an in-flight callback reuses the pointer and requeues buffers. Reaching the flaw requires virtio input teardown during an event callback; published material establishes memory-safety failure but no unprivileged trigger or further impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
