CVE-2026-97975Public exploit

Kernel crash via Bluetooth device reparenting race

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Race condition in Linux kernel Bluetooth HCI sysfs code allows attackers to crash the kernel via concurrent child-device teardown. The race lets device_del use a stale parent snapshot after hci_conn_del_sysfs moves the child and clears knode_parent, causing klist_put to dereference NULL. Reachability requires Bluetooth child-device unregistration to overlap connection-device reparenting; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.
