Out-of-bounds access via PEBS drain reentry
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds memory access in Linux 6.3.7 through 6.4 occurs when an Intel PEBS buffer drain is unexpectedly reentered. A PMI from another active counter can interrupt process-context drain_pebs(), clear the shared buffer, and leave the first invocation using stale bounds. Exposure requires Intel x86 PEBS activity and the reentry timing; the upstream record does not specify a resulting crash, disclosure, or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
