Kernel resource leak via retained cls_route bucket
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Resource leak in the cls_route classifier in Linux 4.1 allows local users with network-administration privileges to retain kernel objects. route4_set_parms recomputes an existing filter handle and moves the filter, but the emptied old bucket remains in head->table[], causing route4_delete to report that filters remain and pin the empty tcf_proto. Reproduction requires the route4 classifier, ingress scheduler and classifier-action options; the demonstrated consequence is a kernel-object leak.
