Virtual-disk denial of service via leaked LDC mappings
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Resource leakage in Linux sunvdc allows guest OS users to disable an affected SPARC LDOM virtual disk through sustained I/O load. When __vdc_tx_trigger fails, __send_request leaves the descriptor ready and never unmaps its LDC cookies, permanently consuming entries from the fixed-size map table. The failure requires a guest using the sunvdc client under Sun Logical Domains and enough I/O congestion to make the doorbell send fail; the disk remains unusable until reboot.
