Privilege escalation via missing client-scope authorization
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
Privilege assignment in FGAPv2 in Red Hat build of Keycloak 26.4 and 26.6 allows remote authenticated users to escalate realm privileges. ScopeMappedResource and ScopeMappedClientResource add or remove realm- and client-level scope mappings without invoking requireMapClientScope authorization. The attacker needs limited client-management rights, and a user must access the modified client before the unauthorized role is projected into that user's token.
