Kernel crash via misread FineIBT hash
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Denial of service in Linux 6.18 allows attackers to crash the kernel through an indirect call into a BPF struct_ops program. cfi_get_func_hash() reads the FineIBT hash at obsolete offset 7 instead of offset 5, combining half of the real hash with bytes from the next instruction. The crash requires an x86 kernel built with CONFIG_FINEIBT and an affected BPF struct_ops trampoline, whose first indirect call fails CFI.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
