CVE-2026-97929

Kernel heap disclosure via unchecked USB length

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Information disclosure in the Linux kernel usbusx2y ALSA driver allows local users to read kernel heap data after a short USB transfer. The i_usx2y_in04_int() callback processes fewer than 21 received bytes without checking actual_length, then copies uninitialized in04_buf bytes into mmap-accessible ctl_snapshot[]. Exploitation requires an attached USX2Y-class device that returns a short transfer and local access to the driver's mmap interface; exposure is limited to stale heap contents.
