Kernel out-of-bounds read via incomplete range validation
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux ivpu driver allows context-dependent attackers to trigger host reads beyond a buffer object through NPU firmware. The ivpu_to_cpu_addr function validates a device address but not the complete IPC header or message range later dereferenced by the host. Exploitation requires control of firmware-written shared memory on Intel VPU hardware and makes the kernel read past the underlying buffer object.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
