Kernel memory corruption via unchecked compressed-audio sizes
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds writes in affected Linux kernels from 5.2 allow local users to overwrite kernel memory through oversized ASoC buffers. sprd_platform_compr_copy() trusts user-controlled fragment and write sizes when copying into fixed 32 KiB IRAM and 2 MiB DDR allocations. A write in SETUP state reaches the callback without starting playback; the disclosed consequence is controlled data written beyond kernel buffers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
