Incorrect firmware parsing via stale return code
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Uninitialized-value use in the Linux Realtek Bluetooth firmware parser causes incorrect length accounting on zero-key devices. rtlbt_parse_firmware_v2 exits its switch without assigning rc when it should skip a security section, then tests and adds the uninitialized or previous value. The condition requires format-v2 firmware and a device reporting key_id zero; the public record identifies no attacker-controlled path or concrete resulting impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
