Image deletion via unchecked storage-state changes
Published Oct 16, 2026 · Updated Oct 16, 2026
Missing authorization in dcm4chee-arc-light 5.35.1 allows remote attackers to delete medical images via storage-state changes. The storage status-change REST service accepts deletion-related states for locations still associated with DICOM instances, causing PurgeStorageScheduler to delete referenced objects while instance records remain. Unauthenticated exploitation requires access to the REST service; deleted image objects become unavailable despite their remaining database records.
