Remote code execution via unvalidated SQL construction
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
SQL injection in Quest NetVault Backup 14.0.0.19 allows remote attackers to execute code through NVBURemovableMedia JSON-RPC messages. The handler uses a user-supplied string to construct SQL queries without proper validation, allowing injected SQL to reach code execution. The JSON-RPC path normally requires authentication, but the authentication mechanism can be bypassed; execution runs as NETWORK SERVICE.
