Local privilege escalation via certificate string spoofing
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper certificate validation in IRONMACE IronShield 1.0.0.167 allows local users to access privileged kernel-driver operations. The tvk.sys driver searches unparsed WIN_CERTIFICATE bytes for expected publisher and root-certificate strings instead of validating the PKCS signature. A low-privileged local process can supply crafted certificate data that passes the string checks and reaches privileged IOCTL functionality.
