Cross-site scripting via swallowed script-closing tag
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Yahoo serialize-javascript 7.1.1 allows attackers to run page-origin JavaScript through crafted function source. In the function path, SCRIPT_CLOSE_REGEXP consumes two script-closing tags as one match but neutralizes only the first, leaving the second tag to end an inline script. Exploitation requires attacker influence over a serialized function and an application that embeds the output in a script element; ordinary data and JSON-only output are unaffected.
