Receive-data corruption via overconsumed buffer rings
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper buffer consumption in the Linux io_uring receive path allows attackers to corrupt subsequent receive data using an oversized packet. The path advances an incremental provided-buffer ring by the full MSG_TRUNC result instead of the smaller region actually filled. Exposure requires recv or recvmsg with MSG_TRUNC and incremental provided buffers; affected receives can skip unwritten regions and discard later packet bytes.
