Bridge list corruption via reused global handler
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper list management in the Linux kernel allows local users to corrupt bridge list state through configured CFM or MRP handlers. The bridge CFM and MRP handlers reuse one global hlist node across per-bridge frame_type_list instances, so removal from one bridge corrupts another bridge's list. Reachability requires privileges to configure CFM or MRP on multiple bridges; the upstream record establishes no effect beyond list-state corruption.
