Kernel slab over-read via undeclared FCS tailroom
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel 6.17 Broadcom legacy FCS DSA tagger allows attackers to read past the skb linear head. brcm_leg_fcs_tag_xmit passes skb->len to crc32_le for a nonlinear socket buffer even though only the linear head is contiguous, because the tagger fails to declare its FCS tailroom. Reaching the flaw requires transmit traffic through the brcm-legacy-fcs tagger with a nonlinear skb; the observed consequence is a KASAN-detected one-byte slab over-read during CRC calculation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
