Kernel crash via unchecked region-table pointer
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel 6.16 s390 IOMMU allows attackers to crash the kernel via an unmapped IOVA. With a five-level ZPCI_TABLE_TYPE_RFX translation table, get_rso_from_iova() returns NULL for an invalid region-first entry, but get_rto_from_iova() dereferences rso[rsx] without checking it. Reachability requires the s390 IOMMU RFX table configuration and a path that invokes iova_to_phys() for an unmapped IOVA; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
