CVE-2026-97592

Residual cryptographic data exposure via uncleared buffers

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Information disclosure in affected Linux kernel versions through 6.8 allows attackers to expose residual data through s390 AES operations. ctr_aes_crypt() leaves its partial-block stack buffer uncleared, while gcm_aes_crypt() can exit without clearing the CPACF parameter block and gcm_sg_walk buffers. The flaw is limited to the s390 AES implementation; public records do not specify an exploit path or whether disclosure reaches an unprivileged caller.
