Sensitive data exposure via unscrubbed PAES buffers
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Information disclosure in Linux 6.16 and later allows attackers to expose residual PAES data via unspecified vectors. ctr_paes_do_crypt leaves a partial-block buffer uncleared, while __xts_2keys_prep_param clears only its key field instead of the full parameter block. Exposure requires an s390 system to use protected-key AES, and no direct method for retrieving the residual kernel-stack data is published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
