CVE-2026-97589

Request double completion via erroneous callback returns

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Improper request handling in Linux 6.16 allows attackers to trigger double completion in s390 PAES and PHMAC operations via unspecified vectors. The affected do_one_request callbacks return a negative result after explicitly finalizing a request, causing the crypto engine to complete it again. The public record does not state the required access or configuration, and no consequence beyond duplicate completion is published.
