Out-of-bounds read via oversized AV1 tile geometry
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds reading in the Linux Rockchip AV1 decoder allows local users to trigger a kernel over-read through crafted AV1 frame controls. rockchip_vpu981_av1_dec_set_tile_info() indexes a submitted tile-group array using claimed tile geometry without first bounding the tile count by the array length or AV1_MAX_TILES. Access requires a Rockchip VPU981 AV1 decoding path and permission to submit V4L2 controls; the resulting operational impact is not published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
