Transmit-queue hang via suppressed descriptor completions
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux 7.1 bnxt_en driver allows attackers to stop a transmit queue indefinitely via crafted traffic. The transmit path suppresses every descriptor completion, then exits early when a large software-USO packet cannot fit, leaving no completion to clean the full ring. Triggering the flaw requires a nondefault transmit ring of 457 descriptors or fewer, a filling packet burst, and a large software-USO packet; the affected queue does not restart.
