Kernel memory-safety fault via unpinned DFS superblock
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux CIFS client allows attackers to trigger a kernel memory-safety fault during concurrent DFS automount expiry. tcon_super_cb stores a raw superblock pointer, and __cifs_get_super takes its active reference only after iterate_supers_type releases the protections that kept the object alive. Reachability requires CIFS DFS use and concurrent automount expiry; the published KASAN test reports a slab use-after-free, while further impact is undisclosed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
