CVE-2026-97551Hinoki check available

Filesystem shutdown via reservation counter underflow

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

XFS denial of service in the Linux kernel 6.10 allows attackers to shut down a filesystem via parent pointer updates. xfs_parent_da_args_init leaves the unsigned args->total reservation counter at zero, so xfs_da_grow_inode_int subtraction wraps it and bypasses the free-space check. The shutdown occurs only when an add or replace grows the attribute fork while the selected allocation group has exactly zero available blocks.
