CVE-2026-97549Hinoki check available

Filesystem shutdown via XFS repair under-reservation

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Resource under-reservation in XFS online directory repair in Linux 6.10 allows attackers to cause a filesystem shutdown. xrep_dir_swap_prep and xrep_tempexch_estimate reserve one filesystem block for shortform conversion instead of the directory geometry's full fsbcount when directory blocks span multiple filesystem blocks. Reaching the fault requires an XFS filesystem with larger directory blocks and an administrator-initiated online directory repair; ordinary file access does not trigger it.
