CVE-2026-97548

Out-of-bounds access via undersized realtime btree cursors

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in XFS realtime btree cursors in Linux 6.14 allows attackers to access memory beyond the cursor via a large btree. The rtrmap and rtrefcount maxlevels-on-disk calculations omit the inode-root level, so cursor storage is allocated for fewer levels than traversal can use. Triggering requires a sufficiently large XFS realtime reverse-mapping or refcount btree; the published record does not specify a resulting crash, disclosure, or code execution.
