Inconsistent repair state via ignored bitmap-walk error
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper error handling in Linux 6.6 allows attackers to leave inconsistent in-memory allocation data during XFS AGFL repair. The xrep_agfl_fill callback can return a bitmap insertion error, but xrep_agfl_init_header ignored the xagb_bitmap_walk result and continued with incomplete used-extent tracking. Reaching the flaw requires the XFS allocation-group free-list repair path and a bitmap insertion failure; no further security consequence is published.
