CPU hang via continuation IOCB signature aliasing
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper input validation in the Linux qla2xxx driver allows context-dependent attackers to hang a CPU via a crafted Fibre Channel frame. The qla27xx_copy_multiple_pkt() and qla27xx_copy_fpin_pkt() helpers treat payload bytes 56 through 59 as a RESPONSE_PROCESSED signature and spin indefinitely when they equal 0xDEADDEAD. The path requires a qla2xxx Fibre Channel adapter to receive a matching continuation IOCB, and the resulting soft lockup stalls the affected CPU.
