Privileged kernel panic via short BSG request
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux qla2xxx allow local users with CAP_SYS_RAWIO to panic the kernel via short FC BSG vendor requests. The driver reads vendor_cmd selectors and overlaid command structures without first verifying that request_len covers those fields. The request must target a matching QLogic host; effects are bounded to heap over-read, command mis-selection, or a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
