Kernel list corruption via unsynchronized NVMe contexts
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
A race condition in the Linux kernel 6.6 qla2xxx driver allows attackers to corrupt an NVMe-FC unsolicited-context list. The driver adds and deletes fcport->unsol_ctx_head entries from interrupt, worker, transport-callback, and completion contexts without one common lock, so concurrent operations can corrupt list pointers. The race requires qla2xxx NVMe-FC activity on a multiqueue adapter; the upstream disclosure does not state whether corruption causes a crash or another externally observable effect.
