Kernel warning via sleep-under-spinlock GPIO direction change
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
A locking flaw in Linux before 6.18.53 allows attackers to trigger a kernel warning via MediaTek Paris GPIO direction changes. The Paris GPIO callbacks call pinctrl direction helpers that acquire a mutex even though the gpiochip is marked non-sleeping, so the shared GPIO proxy can invoke them while holding a spinlock. Reachability requires affected MediaTek hardware and a GPIO direction request through the shared proxy; no crash, data exposure, or privilege impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
