Kernel crash via unchecked block-size failure
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Denial of service in the BFS filesystem in Linux allows local users to crash the kernel while mounting a block device. bfs_fill_super ignores a failed sb_set_blocksize call and proceeds to sb_bread with an oversized block size, triggering a BUG_ON in folio_set_bh. Triggering the crash requires permission to mount BFS on a block device whose logical block size prevents switching to 512 bytes; no data access or modification is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
